Now that WHMCS is installed onto your web server, the next step is to configure the cron job. This will execute the automation tasks, such as generating renewal invoices and sending payment reminders.
We will be utilizing a cPanel host for this example. If you do not have a cPanel server review our Cron Documentation for instructions.
The first step is to login to the cPanel account used to host your WHMCS installation.
Once logged in, click on Cron Jobs.
WHMCS only requires a single cron job for the automation functionality. This cron should be run every 5 minutes, however if your host does not allow that frequency WHMCS must be run at least one time per hour.
- Select Once Per Five Minutes from the Common Settings Drop Down Menu
- Paste the Daily Cron Job Command you copied from the last step of the Installation Wizard into the Command field
- Click Add New Cron Job
If you didn’t take note of the cron job command from the installation wizard, don’t panic. It can be obtained at any time within your WHMCS Administration Area:
- Navigate to Setup > Automation Settings section within your WHMCS Admin Area.
- Omit the schedule data */5 * * * * from the command.
You’re now ready to login to the newly installed WHMCS Administration area for the first time. Continue to the next page of this guide to learn more.
